Harvey Sigelbaum is a Senior Advisor for The Riverside Company, a global private equity firm. He just celebrated his tenth anniversary there as part of their healthcare specialization team.
Harvey started his executive career in the ‘60s as President and CEO of Urban Community Insurance company, a regional cooperatively-oriented auto insurer. After ten years there, he went on to become President and CEO of Amalgamated Life Insurance Company, a national insurer specializing in Labor sponsored multi-state employee benefit plans. He spent seventeen years there and then in 1995 he joined MultiPlan, Inc., a national healthcare network organization, where he served the next eleven years as President and Co-CEO.
He has been active as a Board member for numerous organizations, for-profit as well as not-for-profit, including as Chairman of the National Cooperative Bank, the National Cooperative Business Association and the National Association on Drug Abuse Problems. His main board activity has been with healthcare, serving on the Executive Committees of America’s Health Insurance Plans and the Council for Affordable Quality Healthcare. He also served on the Boards of the Health Insurance Association of America and the Association of Managed Healthcare Organizations. Harvey’s corporate Board service has involved a number of companies, currently active with Medical Payment Exchange, Inc., International Fidelity Insurance Company, Allegheny Casualty Company and MyNexus, Inc.
Harvey’s other interest has been in international development and in 1994 he was appointed by President Clinton and confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve on the Board of Directors of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), a self-sustaining U.S. Government agency that provides political risk insurance and financing for U.S. businesses investing in emerging markets and developing nations around the world.
Harvey holds a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School and a B.A. in Philosophy from University of Miami.
